Styled Wedding Shoot with horses
This beautiful shoot was styled by the brilliant Tia Schults and took place at the Vaderlandsche Rietvlei Stables in phillipi and is owned and run by Linda Mohr. My two couples were Rachel Clarke and her boyfriend Satya Jones and Sive Ngedle and her boyfriend Patrick Tshikila. The horses in these photographs are several stabled at Vaderlandsche Rietvlei Stables and weren't originally planned on featuring in the shoot, however the models were game for interaction with them and the horses were all too keen for some attention.
The make-up for this shoot was done beforehand at my friends house in Claremont by Natasha Coetsee. Tia thought of everything that I forgot about, such as flowers and accessories. Tia's help made it easy for me to stick behind my lens as she corrected any styling mistakes before and inbetween every shot. To make it doubley amazing, Tia had her own camera there and captured some exquisite photographs of me at work, which seldom happens and was truly appreciated. This shoot took place late pm to just past sunset and into dusk type lighting. This lighting provided some absolutely amazing shots, especially as I was experiementing with shooting into the light, which creates some really unique and beautiful photographs.
It was naturally hard for me not to imediately focus in on the horses and rather work on incorporating the couples connection to each other and combining it with their obvious connection with the horses. As I mentioned above, the horses weren't originally going to be featured as I wasn't sure that either of the couples would be keen to get too close. Rachel and Satya took to the horses very well, whilst Sive and Patrick posed beautifully for me at the cabin for a pretty, yet rustic feel. I believe that I balanced shooting into the light and shooting for correctly exposed models quite well, meaning I had a vast selection of photographs to choose from formy portfolio. I have chosen 5 beautiful photographs from this shoot to feature in my portfolio book.
